Adrian Lewis, born in Swansea in 1951, is a writer on art and practising painter who lives in Ruffec, France. He taught for many years at De Montfort University, Leicester, where he organized an exhibition Roger Hilton: The Early Years in 1984. He completed doctoral research on Roger Hilton and the Culture of Painting under Dr Andrew Causey at Manchester and recently donated his research material to the Tate Archive (TGA 20139). He has also written on mid-nineteenth century French art and modern British and American art.
